Da nile of fear
Everyone is afraid, somewhere. People just don’t always claim it. Everyone who takes a risk, emotional or otherwise, experiences fear. Don't be in da nile of fear.
Fear is not the problem
Fear is not the problem. We make it the problem when we make fear into an enemy that must be vanquished, rather than a part of our life experience that needs to be understood.
The cost of closing off fear
The cost of closing off fear—trying to isolate your experience of fear and not feel it—is that you close off to the rest of your capacity to feel other things. You cannot selectively shut down fear and expect not to shut down your capacity for joy, happiness, or love.
Your relationship to fear is your relationship to life
That’s it, right there: your relationship to fear, is your relationship to your life. If you are avoiding fear, I guarantee you that you are avoiding life.
